We also practice in the area of Collaborative Law, an alternative method of resolving family disputes.
There have been a number of developments in the area of Family and Child Law over the last few years including the Brussels 2 bis Regulation, the Report of the Study Group on Pre-Nuptial Agreements and the emergence of Collaborative Law.
Legislation (Civil Partnership Bill 2008) allowing Civil Partnerships for same sex couples came into force recently. The legislation gives same sex couples legal rights in relation to sharing their home, taxation, maintenance and pensions.
Civil Partnership is not available for opposite sex couples. However, the Act does provide for co-habiting rights for such couples.
